Horvat has earned a number of professional designations including Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®), the highest level of studies in the life insurance profession; Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®), the most extensive education for financial solutions professionals; Chartered Advisor for Senior Living (CASL®)  an expertise dedicated to the full range of financial, health, psychological and sociological issues confronting older individuals.


The Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) designation has long been recognized as the fundamental and foremost educational credential for life insurance professionals. Since 1927, more than 94,000 individuals have earned their CLU®, helping them build a successful life insurance practice by providing clients with knowledgeable and ethical advice. For financial representatives, field management, home office personnel, and others involved in providing life insurance products to the public, the CLU® designation symbolizes continuing growth and commitment to professionalism.

The Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) designation focuses on the comprehensive financial planning process as an organized way to collect and analyze information on a client's total financial situation; to identify and establish specific financial goals; and to formulate, implement, and monitor a comprehensive plan to achieve those goals. The ChFC® program provides financial services professionals with in-depth knowledge of the skills needed to perform comprehensive financial planning for their clients.

The Chartered Advisor for Senior Living (CASL®) designation focuses exclusively on the unique needs of mature clients. Developed with input from a panel of industry professionals, the designation provides representatives with comprehensive knowledge on the full range of financial, health, psychological and sociological issues confronting older clients. Individuals who earn the CASL® designation gain a thorough understanding of health and health care, long term care insurance, planning for pension distributions, suitability of investments, federal estate taxation and counseling on key family decisions.

Joseph provides financial planning services for families of individuals with special needs. He understands that having a special needs child impacts every facet of your financial picture and demands a thorough, integrated approach to managing your family's money.

Joseph assists parents of special needs children in making smart decisions about money. He is a knowledgeable advisor who can help provide access to integrated financial strategies that will benefit your child with disabilities — and your entire family.

Professional Associations

Joseph J. Horvat is involved with the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA).

The mission of NAIFA is to advocate for a positive legislative and regulatory environment, enhance business and professional skills, and promote the ethical conduct of our members.

NAIFA is a national nonprofit organization representing the interests of more than 70,000 insurance and financial advisors nationwide, through its federation of over 900 state and local associations. Founded in 1890, NAIFA is the nation's largest financial services membership association.

He is a member for the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT). MDRT is the premiere association of financial professionals. MDRT status designation is granted for one year and members must apply every year to continue their affiliation with the MDRT.

Founded in 1927, MDRT provides its members with resources to improve their technical knowledge, sales and client service while maintaining a culture of high ethical standards.
